Apple Music Home Session: Sinead Harnett

Sinead Harnett’s Apple Music Home Session finds her both empowered and exposed as she reapproaches two tracks from her 2021 record Ready Is Always Too Late. “‘Obvious’ is my jam from the album,” the London-born singer-songwriter tells Apple Music. “I love that for once I’m not a victim in that song. And ‘Hard 4 Me 2 Love You’ is the most vulnerable song on it—my attempt at fixing a friendship that had broken down. It means so much because it helped heal the situation.” Here, the R&B singer dials both tracks right back, her soulful voice bearing the full weight of their emotional power. Next, she takes on Coldplay’s “Yellow,” a track that gave her chills growing up. “I wondered why it was resonating so deeply with me, when all of my friends were listening to teenage pop stars and nothing else,” she notes. “[Coldplay’s] music will always hold a special healing place in my heart.” Released in summer 2021, this Home Session comes at the end of a transformative time for many of us. What has it taught Harnett? “I learnt how to work smarter and how to love myself,” she reveals. “I finally had time to practice. I started to celebrate all my weirdness instead of trying to hide it. I really got to know myself.” Hit play on a truly special session here.
